本文基于功能翻译理论中的文本类型学说和目的论对中英文体育新闻导语进行对比分析,以探究适合体育新闻导语的翻译技巧,以期对体育新闻导语的翻译研究和我国媒体的对外宣传有所启示。该研究从官方网站及报刊随意选取中英文体育新闻导语各30篇进行定性分析。通过对其进行文本分类和对比分析,得出各种不同文本中英体育新闻导语的异同。在其各自的功能及翻译目的之上,探讨适合体育新闻导语的翻译技巧。根据纽马克的文本类型学说,汉英体育新闻可划分为三类文本:即赛事报道、官方文告和特写。依照它们各自侧重的功能及翻译目的可依次纳入信息型文本、表达型文本和呼唤型文本。赛事报道旨在传递信息内容,因此在翻译过程中应考虑信息内容的忠实性。官方文告旨在通过向受众传播与体育相关的政策法规和官方决策以表达官方立场,译者应尽可能地将表达者的立场及倾向性准确地表达出来,以实现其表达功能及召唤功能。体育新闻特写注重的是信息的传递效果和读者的情感呼应,译者应顺从译文读者的欣赏习惯和心理感受,以实现其召唤目的。研究结果表明,功能翻译理论的确在汉语体育新闻导语英译中起到了指导作用。
